Frequently Asked Questions

Question:

When the frame is set up at 12 feet, how wide of a quilt will the frame hold?

Answer:

When set up at the 12 foot length your quilt may be as long or wide as 124 inches, or ten feet. Your ability to quilt a large quilt is limited only by the size of your sewing machine bed. The quilt rolls onto the take up bar in your sewing machine bed opening as you quilt the layers together.

 Question:

If I choose not to use the Speed Control option how do I vary the stitch speed with the foot pedal sitting on the other side of the machine?

 Answer:

When using the foot pedal on the needle side of the machine, you attach the foot pedal to the handle using Velcro and a heavy elastic. That places it at your fingertips.

 Question:

How are leaders attached to square medal rods?

 Answer:

We recommend 2” masking tape to attach the leaders to the fabric bars. The square shape of the bars gives you a straight guide to align your leaders.

 Question:

Since we live locally can we buy the items at one of your dealers for the same prices as listed on your website?

 Answer:

You can purchase To Be Quilting Inc. products at our dealer locations for the same prices listed on the website.

 Question:

What are the dimensions and weights of the B Line frame? We would like to be certain the boxes will fit into our minivan.

 Answer:

The B-Line Frame will fit into a minivan with lots of room to spare.

 Question:

What is the black box on the handles in the pictures?

Answer:

This is a Speed Control and this option eliminates the need for a foot pedal to operate your sewing machine. It is available for the Juki: TL98E, TL98Q,  BabyLock QP,  Brother: 1300, 1500,  Janome: 6500,  Pfaff: 1067, 1069, 1171, 1371, 1467, 1469, 1471, 1472, 1473, 1475, 6230, 6250, 7510, 7530, 7550, 7562, 7570.

 Question:

What type of wood do you use to build your frames?

 Answer:

Our B-Line Home Quilting Systems are all made from Baltic Birch Plywood, one of the finest plywood products available to the North American market. With normal use, proper storage and minimal maintenance, your quilting frame will give you many years of quilting pleasure.

 Question:

I am considering attaching a laser light to my B-Line quilting frame rather than using a stylus. Can one be attached to your frame?

 Answer:

You can attach a laser light to our B-Line quilting frame. You would need to modify the holder to suit the needs of the laser manufacturer.

 Question:

What depth of pattern or free hand sewing is possible with your quilting frame?

 Answer:

The sewing area is not determined by the size of the B-Line quilting frame. The sewing area is determined by the distance between the needle bar and the body of your sewing machine. It is in this open space that your needle will travel over the quilt top as you roll the carriage backward, forward.

Question:

Is a Stylus available for following patterns?

 Answer:

Yes, a stylus is included. Attached to the lower carriage, you can guide your machine along any commercial or hand drawn pattern you like.

 Question:

Can I add a light?

 Answer:

Yes, we have attached a small lamp to our unit that has a clamp which attaches very nicely to the upper handles.

 Question:

Where do you mount the foot pedal?

 Answer:

The foot pedal can be mounted at the front or back of the carriage to suit your quilting needs.

We have recommended that you sit the pedal in the rear of the carriage behind the machine and secure it with Velcro so you can easily access it.

Or, secure it with Velcro and shock cord to the handles you wish to use.

We highly recommend the Speed Control option or the Quilter’s Cruise Control to free up your hands and make your quilting experience even more pleasurable.

 Question:

How do you ship the quilt frames?

 Answer:

The delivery service used to ship B-Line Home Quilting Systems is United Parcel Service Canada Limited (UPS). The Standard shipping rates have been established by UPS based on the Product weight, dimension and destination.

 Question:

Can I use your B-Line Home Quilting System with my PC Quilter?

Answer:

Absolutely you can. In fact, we make a PC Quilter specific quilting system just for the PC Quilter users. We have put together a special package for PC Quilter users who have no interest in doing free-motion quilting.

If you have previously purchased a the B-Line Home Quilting system and wish to use the PC Quilter now, just remove the free-motion carriage that came with your system and replace it with the PC Quilter carriage.

Question:

How long will it take me to set up the quilt frame?

 Answer:

We have had varying experiences shared with us. Some customers find it very fast to assemble while others report it took them longer.

Q: How much space is required to set it up?
A: That depends on the length you wish to set it up at. If you want the 12+ foot set up then you will need a space that is 12 foot long and at least 7 feet wide to give you room to move around the frame.  You will want to be able to access your machine from at least three sides. A shorter set up requires less space but we do recommend giving yourself room to stand or sit on both sides of the frame and to move the carriage in and out
